The myriad of civilizations that have swept through Malta, along with its geographical position between Africa and Europe and its fantastic natural deep harbours have contributed to Malta’s unique culture.
Food, Wine and Mediterranean Lifestyle
There has been much documentation and publication about the benefits of the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle. Holiday-guides, doctors, chefs and sports enthusiasts all agree that the food, climate and lifestyle of Mediterranean countries contribute largely to health and happiness. The waters around Malta teem with fish, such as sea bass, stonefish, bream, red mullet, swordfish and tuna. Lobsters and octopus are also extremely popular with seafood forming an integral part of the Maltese diet. The crystal-blue, warm sea that surrounds the Maltese Islands leaves no doubt as to why Malta is a favourite destination for deep sea diving, sailing, skiing, surfing and swimming.
